Just when I thought I had found my favorite calendar app...

In the not-so-distant past, I wrote about Any.Do's new calendar app and my not-so-subtle fandom of it. I didn't think I would be using, much less testing, another calendar app for a very long time.

Man was I wrong.

A few days ago I started playing around with an app called Mynd (Wired does a great write up here). It's a calendar app that doesn't sync up with any other "to do" services but has a lot of features that make it super functional. After having Cal crash on me a few times when trying to create calendar appointments from inside the app, I decided to give Mynd a spin.

Mind works like personal dashboard for your phone. The main screen shows your weather, your next appointment, which locations you have to be at that day and how many events you have left. It has sort of that "live tile" feature that Windows 8 has that allows each feature to be clickable. Clicking on one of the boxes allows you to drill in and see more details.

My favorite part of Mynd is its integrations with Evernote and LinkedIn. When setting up meetings, it uses LinkedIn to pull in my contacts that I'm most likely meeting with. In addition, each meeting syncs up with Evernote to provide relevant notes that should be part of your meeting. While the Evernote note suggestions aren't perfect, it's definitely a good start. I like the idea behind it

One hangup I had with Cal was scheduling appointments and syncing up all my calendars. Granted Cal is still fresh off the market, it was a frustration not being able to set up any appointments from inside the app. Mynd doesn't try to use its own appointment maker. Instead, it pulls in the phone's native calendar feature and allows you to set up meetings the same way you would from the native calendar app. It's seamless and I love it.

For now, I'm sticking with Mynd and putting Cal on hiatus for a bit. You can download it here and try it out yourself.

Has anyone else tried Mynd? How do you prefer to keep up with appointments?
