Brain Wads Overhaul: New Site. New RSS
You may have noticed something different when you typed in drewhawkins.org. If you did, great! If not...then I still have a thing or two to learn about domain mapping.
I've moved the blog from Squarespace to Wordpress. There was nothing ill on Squarespace's part, they are a good company and are making waves in the blog hosting world. They made hosting and designing a blog easy....almost too easy. Desiring more open-source plugins and the ability to use DISQUS, I made the switch.
Plus, I thought I would go ahead and capitalize on the term "Brain Wads."
My previous blog (IMHO) looked like it had been designed by a committee, so I wanted to opt for a much cleaner look. Hopefully I was able to accomplish that.
But what's all this mean for you my readers?
The Bad News
Well, for those of you subscribed via RSS, I unintentionally deleted the old feed when trying to re-direct it to BrainWads.com (the new URL). So if you were a subscriber, feel free to click on the icon to the left or even click here. Shoot, even if you weren't one before, feel free to start now! If email is more your thing, just insert your email address in the appropriate box to the right of this post to have my Brain Wads sent straight to your inbox.
The Good News
The good news is that the site is hopefully cleaner and easier to navigate for you all. On a more selfish approach, I really am looking forward to really utilizing DISQUS and the Editorial Calendar plugin. It should help my thought process and organization personally in a big way.
I also aim to bring more of a community here. Yes it's my site but I changed the name to keep it from revolving completely around my personal brand. Taking a note from Mark Schaefer's {Grow} blog, I would aim to see more conversation on here between people. In addition, Brain Wads will have more in the way of guest posts than in the past.
I'm looking forward to learning more from you! Feel free to contact me through my contact page or emailing me at drew@brainwads.net.
