How Could You Fail and Succeed At The Same Time?

I know a lot of people online saw this a while ago. Thought I would share it here. Everybody's MySpace friend Tom weighed in on the Instagram debacle that occurred prior to Christmas. When someone tried to discredit the value of his input in the technology space, Tom shows no reservations in his less-than-140-character response:

How about that for some perspective?

I would call MySpace a failed venture (before the recent update) but seeing this made me second guess the failure of Tom himself.

What would you say? Was Tom a success or failure? Or both?
